New & Updated RAM/ROM Cartridges for the Acorn Electron
The new Clone is all black (PCB & Case) so I thought I'd re-order some ROM and RAM cartridges in black to match but before I did I updated one of them and had a thought for a new one.
Starting with my dual SRAM cartridge - This cartridge fell out of use as I developed other battery backed versions but came back in to its own when I started to use MMFS. Using the Electron ZEMMFS ROM which re-loctates into Sideways RAM keeping PAGE at &E00 fits prefectly on this cartridge. See photo..
Before ordering the black versions I altered the Write Protect Switch pad spacing so a more reliable switch can be used or just jumper links. I also reduced the height of the cartridge by 0.2".

Next is the more compact SRAM cartridge - removed the switch and put in a link in its place. I also made it slightly smaller.

Built and tested - works OK.
This gave me the idea of making a ROM catridge using a 32K EPROM to give 2x16K banks. Looking at the circuit I could see that it could possibly be made without and any further decoding of the Plus 1 or 2 circuits..just the EPROM. So that's on order and hopefully it'll work. I'll use this cartridge for ROMs where two images are usually used together such as the Stop Press and the Advanced BASIC Editor although any images could be used.

With no decoding circuits the cartridge can be made very small..

And it works...that's the smallest cartridge I've made!

I'll add the Gerbers for all of the above once I've tested the new cartridge.
